REPORTING YOUR CHILD'S ABSENCE

If your child is absent from school, please call the school office at 605-422-3830 or email DakotaValleyUE@k12.sd.us for Grades 4 and 5 or DakotaValleyMS@k12.sd.us for Grades 6-8. If a student's absence is not confirmed by 9:00 a.m., we will attempt to contact the parent by phone or email to ensure your student is safely accounted for. If we are unable to reach you, the absence will be marked as unexcused.

District Text Messaging: The District utilizes Bright Arrow text messaging to send alerts to all families, particularly for weather-related school closings. The first time a text notification is sent out to a new family, you will receive a message asking if you want to "opt in." If you choose to ignore this message, you will not receive any further notifications via text messaging. If you do choose to "opt in" at a later time, you may do so by texting "Yes" to 87569.
